‘Beyond the Page’ Speakers and Moderator

Attendees will hear from writers and editors who’ve created wildly successful new programs, events, and offerings that allow them to make money while helping others. Speakers include:
- Rachel Dickinson. Dickinson is the author of seven nonfiction books and many essays and articles written for publications including The Atlantic, Audubon, Smithsonian, Outside, and The Saturday Evening Post. She holds a degree in geology and an MFA in nonfiction. After attending writing residencies in Iceland, Maine, and upstate New York, in 2025 she helped organize and lead a women’s writers retreat in the Finger Lakes. Dickinson lives in the village of Freeville, New York.
- Elizabeth Hanes. Elizabeth Hanes, BSN, RN, is nurse turned award-winning health journalist and content writer. In 2020, during the height of the Covid pandemic, WedMD chose Hanes to be their public health blogger. She has worked with health care’s biggest brands and publications, including Anthem, Dignity Health, EverydayHealth, and many others. She is the founder of RN2writer, which teaches other nurses how to become freelance writers, too. She is an ASJA member.
- AJ Harper. AJ Harper is an editor and publishing strategist who helps authors write foundational books that enable them to build readership, grow their brand, and make a significant impact on the world. As a ghostwriter and developmental editor, she has worked with both newbies and New York Times bestselling authors who’ve sold millions of books. Harper partnered with business author Mike Michalowicz to write more than 10 books, including Profit First, The Pumpkin Plan, Fix This Next, and their latest, The Money Habit. Harper and Michalowicz host a weekly podcast, Don’t Write That Book. Harper is also a partner and head writing coach for HEROIC, the premier speaker training program. Through her Top Three book workshops and editing retreats, she empowers authors with insider publishing knowledge and guides them through the book development, writing, and editing process. She is the author of Write a Must-Read: Craft a Book That Changes Lives–Including Your Own.
- Jennie Nash. Jennie Nash is the founder and CEO of Author Accelerator, widely recognized as the premier training and certification program for book coaches. Through its training, certification, and support programs, Author Accelerator has built a thriving community of more than 375 certified book coaches who work in all genres, helping writers deepen their craft, clarify their vision, and follow through on the hard work of finishing books that connect with readers. Nash’s own coaching clients have signed with top literary agents, secured six-figure book deals, and landed on major bestseller lists—including the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. She cohosts the popular #AmWriting podcast, where she brings the book coaching mindset to a broader audience, and is the author of 12 books in three genres.

The webinar is moderated by Gwen Moran, longtime freelance writer, editor, content strategist, and ASJA member. Moran’s work has been published and produced by Fast Company, Inc., Fortune, Entrepreneur, Business Wars Daily, and many others.
