Heather Gary

Heather Grennan Gary has worked with words and writers for over two decades. From 2016 until 2020, she was editor of the Cresset, a review of public affairs, literature, and the arts published by Valparaiso University. Under her leadership the Cresset won 20 awards from the Associated Church Press in the categories of critical review, humor, inspirational article, professional resource, scholarly or theological article, and Best in Class for journals. She has received awards for feature writing, analysis writing, editorial courage, and for “most personally useful article.” She has also redesigned newsletters, edited biographies and monographs, directed communications strategy for a successful school bond measure, coordinated email campaigns, worked as a writing coach for graduate students, and managed self-published book projects.

Heather has a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University, a master’s degree in theological studies from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, and a bachelor’s degree from Santa Clara University, where she studied philosophy and communication.
