Asha Dore

 

Asha Dore is a journalist, college instructor, and speech-language pathologist. Her essays have appeared in Washington Post, New York Magazine’s The Cut, Slate, Insider, The New York Times, Electric Literature, Gulf Coast, The Rumpus, We Can’t Help it if We’re From Florida, and elsewhere. 

 Asha’s received a Best of the Net award in CNF, and her essays and manuscripts have been finalists or shortlisted for Disquiet, Dzanc, Black Lawrence Press, The Florida Review, Jaded Ibis Press, Autumn House Press, and The Journal Non/Fiction Prize. Asha hosts Totally Biased Reviews, a literary interview podcast, and she’s the editor-in-chief of Parley Lit

 The Bleeds, a short film that Asha wrote, directed, and edited, won two awards at the Seattle Horror 48-hour film festival in 2024. She’s spoken and presented about class, neurodivergence, language, and the writing process at Microsoft, The University of Washington, AWP, several colleges in the Pacific Northwest, and the American Speech-Language and Hearing conference. Asha has a MFA in creative writing and a clinical MS in speech therapy. 

 She’s a single mother of three, a queer neurodivergent disability justice advocate, working day jobs, and making art at night.
