Alexandra Jones

I’m a writer and author covering food, farming, and climate based in Philadelphia. After majoring in tuba performance in college (really), I found myself stocking shelves at Trader Joe’s to make a living. Working with food changed my career trajectory, and I spent 8 years working with local food systems in the nonprofit sector. That work—sustainable agriculture advocacy, marketing and communications, food procurement, and consulting to facilitate connections between farmers and wholesale customers like chefs and grocers—informs my journalistic outlook and the brands with which I collaborate.

You can read my work in publications like USA Today, HuffPost, Food & Wine, Gastro Obscura, Civil Eats, The Counter, the Philadelphia Inquirer, and Audubon Magazine. I also provide copywriting and editorial services like content strategy, blogging, and ghostwriting to food brands ranging from small farms to large organizations. I’m also an experienced cheesemonger, leading in-person tastings and pairing workshops in and around the Philly area and online. My first book, Stuff Every Cheese Lover Should Know, was released by independent publisher Quirk Books in 2020.
