A Perfect FIT: 2025 ASJA Conference to Take Place at NYC’s Fashion Institute of Technology

Whether you’re trying on freelancing for size, styling a new approach to an existing writing business, or tailoring a book, you belong at the 2025 ASJA annual conference, which takes place in person at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology.

The conference is slated for Feb. 24 to 26, 2025.

The annual event features all the hallmarks of ASJA’s well-regarded in-person conferences, including illuminating keynote speakers and engaging sessions for freelancers interested in journalism, content marketing writing, and nonfiction books. It includes ASJA’s signature Client Connections “speed dating with editors” networking event for professional members, and other opportunities to catch up with old friends and make new acquaintances.

The conference is open to ASJA members and non-members.

Part of the State University of New York, FIT is located on West 27th between 7th and 8th Avenues in Manhattan’s Fashion District. The FIT campus is surrounded by hotels, restaurants, and entertainment, and offers easy access to major subway, train, and bus lines – making it the perfect fit for an ASJA conference.

ASJA is excited to bring our annual writers conference to the FIT campus. We looked at several venues in Manhattan to find one that offered the most value for our members, speakers, and other attendees. FIT had the best combination of location and amenities. The conference committee is designing an event that takes full advantage of the venue, neighborhood, and city.

Location, Lodging, and More

Sessions at the 2025 ASJA in-person conference will take place in the Fred P. Pomerantz Art and Design Center. The center is home to FIT conference and event facilities, including spaces suitable for keynote speakers, joint sessions, and smaller breakout sessions, and open areas for informal networking.

ASJA conference goers will received discounted room rates at a number of FIT-affiliated lodgings in the area, including major brands and local, boutique hotels. ASJA will share a list of lodgings offering discounts along with registration information later this year.

The ASJA conference planning committee and FIT faculty are discussing multiple options for collaborating on conference presentations and events, and will share details as they are available.
