Sarah Lamagna

I am an avid outdoorswoman with a great love for books and creating stories. My career has spanned many topics and locations including working as a professional ecologist for over a decade. I now work full-time as a freelance writer specializing in the ecotourism, slow/sustainable travel, and outdoor gear industry. I am the author of the Falcon Guides Hiking with Kids New England and Swimming Holes New England with another on the way (Haunted Hikes of New England coming in May 2026). My bylines include The Denver Post, 5280 magazine, Very Well Family, Territory Supply, Outdoors.com, and Matador Network. I was also welcomed as an expert on NPR’s The Takeaway for my work on the wildfires in Colorado and most recently on Maine Calling to talk about hiking with kids. I currently live in New Hampshire with my husband, kid, and geriatric blue heeler where you will likely find me in my favorite mountain range: the White Mountains.
