How to Succeed with ASJA's Annual Conference
by ASJA Conference Co-Chair Sally Stich

Over the years, we've noticed that the people who get the most out of the ASJA Annual Writers' Conference (this year April 24-26 at the Roosevelt Hotel) tend to share certain traits, including:

Aspiration: Whether they've been writing for a year or 30 years, our attendees still aspire to write something greater than they've done. They know that the possibility of kicking it up a notch is considerably higher if they meet the right editor or agent, talk to others whose work they admire, and learn what works today.

Inspiration: Who among us doesn't need to be inspired, after working alone in our offices for months on end One editor, one lunch companion, one panel can light a fire, sending you home inspired and ready to bring your ideas to fruition.

Perspiration: You don't spend good money for a conference just to slack off. The writers for whom this conference pays off come prepared to take notes, network, talk to other writers, and share work ideas. These writers go home tired but inspired.

Motivation: The real work begins after the conference for successful attendees who know it's now time to put the pedal to the metal. These writers use motivation (reinforced at the conference) to touch base with a new writing colleague, send pitches, explore ideas -- in other words, work harder.

Appreciation: You came, you listened, you networked, you conquered. And you appreciated the correlation between investing in your career and realizing a return on that investment.

Ideally, we'll see YOU at the conference. To register, go to:
