Stephanie Stephens received another fellowship in health writing, this one from the Association of Health Care Journalists (AHCJ), to attend their national conference in Chicago, which took place in April. Stephanie was also recently asked to become a contributor to California Healthline, published by the California HealthCare Foundation

David Holzman wrote the Centers for Disease Control fight song and sang it at the Nobel Prize Awards Ceremony at Harvard University's Sanders Theater

Freelance journalist Karen Kefauver, based in Santa Cruz, CA, has launched a new social media blog intended for small businesses, authors, and speakers on how to use Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook to establish brand identity, make new connections, and increase the bottom line. As an adventure travel specialist, Karen writes a monthly column on bicycling for the Santa Cruz Sentinel and last wrote about mountain biking for She Pedals magazine

Cindy La Ferle's new essay, "The Art of Midlife Gardening," is published in the March/April 2010 issue of Victoria magazine, and her essay, "Mother and Son Answer the Call of the Wild," is included in the newly released anthology, Wild with Child: Adventures of Families in the Great Outdoors (Travelers' Tales)

Deborah L. Jacobs' self-published book, Estate Planning Smarts, was reviewed in "The Best," a regular feature of The Wall Street Journal's Encore report. The Journal called the book "a terrific guide for people who are just beginning to grapple with estate planning, as well as those who have (or think they have) their affairs in order"

Sheri Koones' next book, Prefabulous + Sustainable: Building and Customizing an Affordable, Energy Efficient Home, was released by Abrams in April. The book profiles 25 of the "greenest" houses in North America and describes more than 60 aspects of "green" homes in simple language

Deborah R. Huso's new book, Moon Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains (Avalon Travel, 2010), a travel guide to the mountains of North Carolina and east Tennessee, will hit bookstores this month

Florence Isaacs' new book (with Victoria Rogers McEvoy, M.D.) is The 24/7 Baby Doctor: A Harvard Pediatrician Answers All Your Questions From Birth To One Year. It's out this month from Globe Pequot

Shirley Lee, who specialized in celebrity profiles and at-home stories for years, has written a book entitled Seeing Stars: Memoirs of a Freelance Celebrity Articles Writer, scheduled to be published next fall by BearManor Media

Cheryl Alkon's book, Balancing Pregnancy With Pre-Existing Diabetes: Healthy Mom, Healthy Baby, was published by Demos Health in April. It is the first insider's guide to the topic, with reviewers calling it "the bible for women with diabetes trying to plan a pregnancy." It is based on Cheryl's experiences, chronicled on her blog

Carol Weston spoke at a Master's Tea at Yale University in January. The talk was called "Writing For Your Life." In April, she addressed the Canadian Association of Independent Schools Assistant Heads in Montreal and the New York State School Library Media Specialists in Albany

Historian Arthur G. Sharp's ninth book, Blue Jackets: The Definitive Illustrated History of the U. S. Navy, (Barnes & Noble) will arrive in bookstores in August 2012. The 125,000-word, 1,000-photo book will be released under the Sterling Publishing Co. imprint

Marvin Weisbord, an SMW/ASJA member since the early 1960s, is completing a 3rd edition of Future Search: An Action Guide to Finding Common Ground in Organizations and Communities with co-author Sandra Janoff for release by Berrett-Koehler Publishers in October 2010. The book has been in print for 15 years.

In February 2009, Laura Daily and Claire Walter launched milehighonthecheap.com, part of the Cities On The Cheap network. As the site celebrated its first anniversary, it had grown from 48 visitors on day one to 2,400+ subscribers, 2,200-2,400 additional daily visitors, 140,000 unique visitors, and roughly 8.5 million hits. The site covers freebies, bargains, values, and deals in the greater Denver/Boulder area

Sydney Jones' second installment in the Viennese Mystery series, Requiem in Vienna, is now available. Booklist calls it "a rich, beautifully written historical mystery...first class," and Kirkus Reviews terms it "sophisticated entertainment of a very high caliber"

Bill and Mary Burnham have two new books: Best Hikes Near Washington, DC and Knack Kayaking for Everyone, with Globe Pequot Press. They've also formed Burnham Guides, LLC, a combination writing and outdoor adventure company leading kayak trips from the pages of their Florida Keys Paddling Atlas

Mary Shafer was nominated by the Dog Writers of America to receive their 2009 Merial Human-Animal Bond Award for editing the anthology, Almost Perfect: Disabled Pets and the People Who Love Them. This award is presented to the entry that best reflects and promotes the strengthening of the human-animal bond

Linda Tancs has written three books for Oxford University Press. Part of the "Law for the Layperson" series, the books are Understanding Trademark Law, Understanding Copyright Law, and Understanding Patent Law, all available on Amazon or through the publisher.

Carol Jose has been busy promoting her 2009 award-winning hardcover book with Evelyn Grubb: You Are Not Forgotten (Vandamere Press, foreword by Henry Kissinger), writing several articles for The History Channel Magazine, and a proposal for the nonfiction book, Confessions of a Green Beret Priest
