Andrea Cooper won one of the 2008 Maggie Awards given by Planned Parenthood for a women's health care story in Redbook. The magazine flew her to Washington, D.C. to receive the award at a luncheon and ceremony. Planned Parenthood Federation of America Maggie Awards recognize exceptional achievement by the media in coverage of health care issues.

Alma Bond was an "award-winning finalist" for her book Margaret Mahler: A Biography of the Psychoanalyst in the Biography category of the National Best Books 2008 Awards, sponsored by USA Book News.

Andrea Kay's fifth book, Work's a Bitch and Then You Make It Work: 6 Steps to Go From Pissed Off to Powerful, has just been published by Stewart Tabori & Chang.

Kathleen Flinn was named a finalist in the nonfiction category of the Washington State Book Awards for her memoir, The Sharper Your Knife, the Less You Cry (Viking/Penguin). The book was released in paperback by Penguin this autumn.

Brette Sember is the author of The Complete Divorce Handbook (Sterling). A comprehensive divorce resource, it not only includes information about every aspect of the divorce process, but has a section of FAQs asked of Sember in her years as a divorce attorney and divorce columnist.

Susan J. Gordon is being honored as writer-in-residence, 2009, for Victoria magazine, for which she has been a longtime contributor. A profile introducing her to readers will be in the January/February issue, along with her personal essay, on the "Chimes" page.

Kathleen Vyn's book, Haunted Iowa, published by Trails Books, is out. Vyn interviewed Iowa ghosthunters for the book. Many of their unpublished case histories are included.

Mark H. Massé has written essays for two fall 2008 nonfiction book collections. "Nobody's Father" is one of 23 stories from North American writers. Nobody's Father: Life Without Kids, was published by TouchWood Editions, British Columbia, Canada. "Hallowed Ground" will be featured in Golf Digest's Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Golf Book, co-authored by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen, scheduled for April 2009 publication.

Ron Chepesiuk's book, Black Gangsters of Chicago, has won first place in the African American nonfiction category of USA Book News' Best Books 2008 Awards. Black Gangsters of Chicago and Ron's Gangsters of Harlem were finalists in the Best Books 2008 true crime category.
