Timothy Gower has co-authored The Sugar Fix: Uncover the High-Fructose Fall-Out That Is Making You Fat and Sick with University of Florida physician and researcher Richard J. Johnson, M.D. The Sugar Fix, Gower's sixth book, will be published by Rodale in April.


The New York Times bestseller, Carved in Sand: When Attention Fails and Memory Fades in Midlife (HarperCollins 2007) by Cathryn Jakobson Ramin, was released in paperback on April 1.
Jen Singer's book, You're a Good Mom (and Your Kids Aren't So Bad Either), will be published this month by Sourcebooks. She wrote parts of the book while admitted to the oncology floor at New York Hospital.
The first three books in Randi Minetor's nine-book series, Passport To Your National Parks Companion Guides (FalconGuides, The Globe Pequot Press) arrive in trade and national park bookstores in April. These three books cover Passport cancellation stamp collecting in the North Atlantic, National Capital and Southeast regions. Six additional books will follow in 2009.
Using original interviews with directors and actors, Cynthia Greenwood's The Complete Idiot's Guide to Shakespeare's Plays (Penguin/Alpha Books, April 2008) offers insight into Shakespeare's most popular plays and tips about good film and TV adaptations.
Hammerin' Hank, George Almighty and the Say Hey Kid: The Year that Changed Baseball Forever, John Rosengren's chronicle of the 1973 season, was released this month (April). Historian Gerald Early calls Hammerin' Hank "a wonderfully informative book that proves once again baseball reflects American culture more powerfully than any other sport."
The British paperback of Janine Latus' book, If I Am Missing or Dead: A Sister's Story of Love, Murder and Liberation, made its debut Jan. 13 as No. 2 on the Sunday Times (of London) paperback bestseller list, where it remained all of January. It also has been released in Indonesian. Turkish and Dutch translations are in the works.
Tania Grossinger's memoir, Growing Up at Grossinger's, originally published in 1975 (Liz Smith called it "delightful..charming" and the New York Post wrote "to be devoured in one non-stop gulp, fascinating reading"), will be reissued by Skyhorse Publishing in the late spring.
The fourth edition of Melanie Mize Renzulli's Unofficial Guide to Central Italy: Florence, Rome, Tuscany & Umbria arrived in stores in March. Renzulli was also the principal writer of the latest edition of Michelin's Green Guide Tuscany, published in November.
Gloria Chadwick's novel, Somewhere Over the Rainbow: A Soul's Journey Home, is back in print through iUniverse. Based on one of her past lives, it's a metaphysical novel about the reality of reincarnation that offers a lighthearted look into the ups and downs of being spiritual in a physical world.
Lisbeth Levine's first book will be coming out in April. Called The Wedding Book: The Big Book for Your Big Day (Workman Publishing), the book was written with Los Angeles wedding planner Mindy Weiss. Levine has written about weddings extensively and is a contributing editor at InStyle magazine.
