The ASJA Press/iUniverse will reissue Laurie Nadel's 1990s bestseller, Sixth Sense, in November. Retitled Dr. Laurie Nadel's Sixth Sense: Unlocking Your Ultimate Mind Power (with Judy Haims and Robert Stempson), it contains an appendix with an Internet directory to experts quoted in the book. Sixth Sense was originally published by Prentice Hall Press in 1990. Avon Books brought out the paperback edition in 1992. It has sold more than 100,000 copies
Victor D. Chase's book, Shattered Nerves: How Science Is Solving Modern Medicine's Most Perplexing Problem, is being released by Johns Hopkins University Press. In Miami this month, Paula Spencer receives the 2006 American Speech Language Hearing Association Media Award for work in Parenting, where she's a contributing editor. Also new: her Q&A "Momfidence!" column at womansday.com, tied to her magazine column, Web site, and new book of the same name
Rutgers University Press has published Charles Harrison's latest book, Tending the Garden State. Harrison traces the history of the Garden State from when it was greengrocer to the new nation to present attempts to save what farmland is left. It's Harrison's 11th book
Cleo Paskal has been made an Associate Fellow at Chatham House (the Royal Institute of International Affairs) in London. She is working on how environmental change will affect geopolitics. Her book on the topic, Global Warring, is due out in 2007. Her parents are slightly confused, but very proud
Barbara DeMarco-Barrett's award-winning book, Pen on Fire: A Busy Woman's Guide to Igniting the Writer Within (Harcourt, 2004), has gone into its fourth printing
Pat Shapiro's seventh book, Yoga for Women at Midlife & Beyond: A Home Companion, gives women over 50 the support and guidance they need to create a personal yoga practice in the privacy of their own homes
After years of volunteering on campaigns, Julie Fanselow has spent 2006 working on her first paid political job, writing and organizing for Larry Grant, the Democratic candidate for Idaho's 1st Congressional District (www.grassrootsforgrant.com)
G. Gaynor McTigue's new book, 400 Ways to Stop Stress Now...and Forever!, is now available direct from the publisher (pickmeupbooks.com) and will be in bookstores in 2007
An article Leah Ingram wrote on breast cancer survivors for Triumph Magazine was honored twice for profile writing, with an APEX Award and a Magnus Opus silver medal. Forthcoming in 2007 are two of Leah's latest books: Tie the Knot on a Shoestring for Alpha Books, a Penguin division, which focuses on planning a wedding for about $5,000; and a branded gift-giving book written for a national retailer. Both gigs are thanks to ASJA-the former from Personal Pitch and the latter from Freelance Writer Search.
