Lorraine Bodger's most recent book, published in May, 2006 by Stewart, Tabori & Chang, is Eater's Digest: 400 Delectable Readings About Food and Drink. Barnes & Noble has been putting it (unpaid!) out on the main cookbook tables in many of their stores; it's gotten great print and radio attention, too. Bodger has written more than 30 cookbooks, list books, and craft books


Wayne Curtis' And a Bottle of Rum: A History of the New World in 10 Cocktails, was published in July by Crown Publishing. Excerpts (or adaptations) of this cultural, economic, and political history of rum have been sold to The Atlantic Monthly, American Heritage and American Scholar
Antoinette Bosco's new release, Growing in Faith When a Catholic Marriage Fails (Resurrection Press/Catholic Book Publishing Company), follows her keynote talk given in July to the North American Conference of Separated and Divorced Catholics at Notre Dame University
Stefan Bechtel's new book, Roar Of The Heavens (Kensington, 2006), about 1969's Hurricane Camille is a Book-of-The-Month-Club alternate selection. The Richmond Times-Dispatch said of it: "Bechtel's heartbreaking subject and heartrending prose brought tears to [this reviewer's] eyes... A powerful book."
Alan Caruba's new book, Right Answers, was published in September by Merril Press. It is a selection of commentaries from his weekly column, posted on the Internet site of The National Anxiety Center and excerpted on more than thirty news and opinion Web sites
America's War on Sex: The Attack On Law, Lust, & Liberty by Marty Klein was published by Praeger on October 1, with a foreword by ACLU president Nadine Strossen. Klein says, "It documents how the Religious Right and government have politicized private life; systematically worsened social problems involving sexuality; and undermined secular democracy by brazenly funding religious organizations"
The paperback edition of Greg Annussek's nonfiction book, Hitler's Raid to Save Mussolini: The Most Infamous Commando Operation of World War II (Da Capo), it out and is currently being translated into several foreign languages
Joanne Cronrath Bamberger has been elected president-elect of the American News Women's Club in Washington, D.C. She writes for a variety of publications, including The Washington Post and Legal Times, as well as Marketplace Radio
Elizabeth Hansen was profiled in a recent issue of New Zealand's Woman Today. "A Californian Kiwiphile" included references to the four travel guidebooks and numerous articles about New Zealand she has written. Most recently, Hansen's "Gimme Shelter New Zealand Style" appeared in National Geographic Traveler
Linda and Steve Bauer's newest title, Recipes from Historic Louisiana (Bright Sky Press) is a collection of recipes from chefs at 48 enduring restaurants, all located in storied buildings. History combined with tantalizing recipes will allow readers to discover the joy of Louisiana dining. A percentage of proceeds will benefit the National Trust Hurricane Recovery Fund. Anne O'Brien's book, Travel-ing Indian Arizona, was released by Westcliffe Publishers this summer and introduces travelers to the 22 Native American communities in Arizona. It covers etiquette, present-day culture, traditions and arts, and includes over 270 color photographs ...Kim Kavin's fourth book, Have the Whole Boat: The Insider's Guide to Private Yacht Charter Vacations, will premiere with a signing this month at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show
In September, Lauraine Snelling welcomes her readers back to Blessing, North Dakota with A Promise For Ellie
Jennifer Margulis was awarded a Fulbright fellowship and will be spending next year in Niamey, Niger with her husband and three children. She'll be teaching American Civilization at the university and researching a book about small-scale non-profit development work
Charlene Ann Baumbich celebrates the release of the fifth book in her Dearest Dorothy series, Dearest Dorothy, Merry Everything, Penguin Books. November 1, Baumbich begins her fourth national book tour for the series
Sam Martin's Manspace: A Primal Guide to Marking Your Territory is being published October 3 by the Taunton Press. Publisher's Weekly calls the book "a charming travelogue of dens that guys love," and Will Staeger of ESPN Original Entertainment says it's "the guy's answer to Sex and the City."
Raeann Berman, author of Caring for Your Aging Parents (Champion Press) was keynote speaker for the June 28 presentation of Excellence Awards by the Milwaukee Aging Consortium. More than 300 professionals in care of the aged attended the conference. Berman's book just won an award from the Midwest Independent Publishers
Joan Detz, author of Can You Say A Few Words? (St. Martin's Press, April 2006) was interviewed by The New York Times for an article entitled "Skilled Traveler? Good Coach."
Ann F. Caron, Ed.D, has been elected President of the Greenwich, CT branch of the National League of American Pen Women. Ann is the author of 3 books on mother/ daughter and mother/son relationships: Don't Stop Loving Me; Strong Mothers, Strong Son; and Mothers and Daughters. She also writes a monthly column for the Greenwich Times.
