Stacie Z. Berg has been named contributing editor to Consumer's Digest
Paul Coleman's tenth book, The Complete Idiot's Guide to Intimacy, was published in September by Alpha Books. Paul also recently completed a revised edition of his 1992 book, The 30 Secrets of Happily Married Couples, which will be published next spring
Raeann Berman's Caring for Your Aging Parents: A Common-Sense Guide for Transforming a Difficult Time into a Loving, Cooperative Relationship, was just published by Champion Press. Two previous editions entitled How to Survive Your Aging Parents (Surrey Books) garnered extensive media coverage, including an appearance on Oprah
Workman Publishing went back to press for the 10th printing of the third edition of The Complete Book of Breastfeeding by Marvin S. Eiger, M.D. and Sally Wendkos Olds. The first edition was published in 1972; updates came out in 1987 and 1999
Elizabeth Crane's new book, Say Yes To College: A Practical and Inspirational Guide to Raising College-Bound Kids (Perigee, 2005), co-authored with Sharon Chandler and with a Foreword by Bill Cosby, hit shelves just in time for back-to-school
Anne Hosansky, who's written half a dozen articles for Caring Today, has been added to the masthead as an editorial contributor
Scott S. Smith signed on July to ghostwrite a book about boxing techniques for two of the top finalists on Sly Stallone's hit reality series The Contender. He was also recently hired as freelance editor and publisher of Sunshine Media's new bimonthly magazine, Doctor of Dentistry/Los Angeles, a business and lifestyle magazine for the world's biggest dental market
Barbara Goodheart has published her psychological thriller, The Wild Place, with ASJA Press (April, 2005). The Wild Place is the award-winning medical writer's third book and first novel
Martha Barnette has won a Society of Professional Journalists Award from the organization's San Diego chapter for her interview with punctuation maven Lynne Truss. Barnette's interview was broadcast on "A Way with Words," the radio show she co-hosts with best-selling language expert Richard Lederer, produced by KPBS-FM
W. Thomas Smith, Jr. has been named executive editor of World Defense Review
Ellen Parlapiano has won a MADD Media Award from Mothers Against Drunk Driving for "Kids and Booze," her Parents magazine story about underage drinking. Winners were honored at a luncheon in Washington, D.C., in September
Andrea King Collier has sold her book, Because We Love You...A Guide to Black Men's Health for Black Women, to Warner Books. The book, which is a combination of true stories, medical information and practical tips, will be published in early 2007
Tina Tessina was hired to be the "Psychology Smarts" columnist for First For Women Magazine. She was named a Redbook Marriage Institute Expert, and she just found out her book, The 10 Smartest Decisions A Woman Can Make Before 40 (HCI, Deerfield Beach, 1998), will be published in Latvian and Portuguese, bringing the total to 16 languages
Lauraine Snelling is pleased to announce the September release of her new contemporary novel Saturday Morning (Waterbrook), set in a women's shelter in San Francisco. Watch for her novella Washington (Barbour) also in September. Amethyst (Bethany House), Lauraine's fourth book in the Dakotah Treasure series, will make its appearance in October ... Randy B. Hecht's "No Straight Answers" has been recognized with the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Digital Journalism. The Web-exclusive story, her first for an AARP publication, marked the first time AARP had covered the problems that older gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people face
Dearest Dorothy, Who Would Have Ever Thought?! (Penguin Books) by Charlene Ann Baumbich releases this month. Publishers Weekly selected the series in its "Picks for Funny Faith Series" saying, "…readers identify with Dorothy, the plucky 80-something grandma who's a demon at the wheel. Baby, you can drive our car."
Rodale Press published the third edition of Hal Higdon's Marathon: The Ultimate Training Guide in August. Marathon has sold 120,000 copies since its first release in 1993. The latest edition contains 384 pages vs. 230 for previous ones. Higdon celebrated with sales of specially numbered "Collector's Editions" through his Web site
Jennifer Bingham Hull's book, Beyond One: Growing a Family and Getting a Life, won ForeWord Magazine's Book of the Year Gold Award (first place) for parenting
740 Park: The Story of the World's Richest Apartment Building by Michael Gross will be published October 18 by Broadway Books
The Arthritis Foundation announces the publication of Alternative Treatments for Arthritis: An A to Z Guide (August, 2005) by Dorothy Foltz-Gray. The book draws on contemporary research to evaluate the effectiveness of more than 100 alternative treatments for arthritis, including herbs, supplements, vitamins, bodywork, mind-body approaches and exercise
Mitch Kaplan's updated 52 Weekends in New Jersey: From Rodeos to Air Shows to Biking Backroads has been released by Countryman Press. The 288-page compendium of "things to do, places to go and events that happen" in New Jersey includes 50 black-and-white photos by Kaplan
Mary and Bill Burnham's Florida Keys Paddling Atlas (Globe-Pequot) and The Virginia Handbook third edition (Hunter Publishing) are both due out this fall. They're currently splitting their time between Virginia, writing for various publications, and Florida, working on Wild Florida Islands for University of Florida Press

Richard C. Levy's board game, Can You Beat Ken?, in which players match wits with Jeopardy! champion Ken Jennings, has been released in book form by Spinner Books, publisher of books you can play. The book, introduced at Book Expo, will have an initial run of 50,000 copies
Daylle Deanna Schwartz's book, I Don't Need a Record Deal! Your Survival Guide for the Indie Music Revolution (Billboard), had a release party at Hard Rock Cafe in New York City. Daylle's doing a three-month fall tour, driving solo across the U.S., speaking at more than 25 colleges, with Borders putting her in stores in 25 markets
Lisa Waterman Gray received a 2005 Heart of America Silver Award, Best Editorial, from The Kansas City Press Club, a chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, for her guest column about religious tolerance in the October 8, 2004, issue of the Kansas City Star

The national children's magazine Skipping Stones has selected John Stickler's latest book to receive its 2005 Honor Award. Land of Morning Calm: Korean Culture, Then and Now, illustrated by John's wife, the artist Soma Han, was picked as "one of 11 exceptional titles in the multicultural and international" category
Florence Isaacs has two new books out in September. Clarkson Potter is publishing a new updated edition of her bestselling Just A Note To Say...The Perfect Words For Every Occasion and M. Evans & Co. is publishing BlindSpots: Stop Repeating The Mistakes That Mess Up Your Love Life, Career, Finances, and Happiness (with Steven Simring, MD and Sue Klavans Simring, DSW)
Marian Calabro's most recent corporate history, The Pep Boys--Manny, Moe & Jack: Founders of the Automotive Aftermarket (Lark Books), will be released this fall. The colorfully illustrated paperback will be sold at the chain's 590 stores. Calabro was interviewed about automotive history for an upcoming History Channel "Modern Marvels" segment.
