David J. Drucker is the new co-owner of the Financial Advisor Literary Guild, a publisher of books for the financial advisory industry. Its first title is Drucker's book, co-authored with Laron D. Shannon: The One Thing ... You Need to Do, as Told By the Financial Advisory Industry's Top Coaches, Consultants and Visionaries. The Guild is seeking other titles that fit its niche
Carole Terwilliger Meyers won a Silver award from the Bay Area Travel Writers for her article, "Escape to Point Reyes," which appeared in San Francisco Downtown. She is the author of the 8th edition of Weekend Adventures in San Francisco & Northern California
Scott S. Smith was the ghostwriter for Corey Clark's They Told Me to Tell the Truth, So...The Sex, Lies, and "Paulatics" of One of America's Idols. It was published as an online book at www.coreyclark.com
Nancy Rubin Stuart was awarded a 2005 Creative and Performing Artists and Writers Fellowship from the American Antiquarian Society
Cassandra Langer's chapter, "What Is Feminism?" from her book, What's Right With Feminism (iUniverse; HarperCollins originally) has been chosen for inclusion as chapter 12 in Timothy W. Crusius and Carolyn E. Channell's The Aims of Argument, part of McGraw-Hill's higher education series (5th edition)
Hilary Nangle's book, Moon Handbooks Coastal Maine, was released in late May. She is currently working on two more titles for Avalon Travel: Moon Handbooks Acadia, targeted for spring 2006, and Moon Handbooks Maine, targeted for spring 2007
Jan Collins won the Aging Awareness Media Award from the American Geriatrics Society for her 2004 article in Parade about an innovative program at the University of South Carolina Medical School that improves the care of older adults by matching medical students with older adult mentors. Jan also co-writes the nationally syndicated column, "NextSteps"
Caroline Tiger's newest book, General Howe's Dog: George Washington, The Battle of Germantown, and the Dog Who Crossed Enemy Lines, came out in June from Penguin
Lisa Iannucci's newest book, Healthy Travel: Don't Travel Without It, will be available this month. It's published by Basic Health Publishing and is co-written with Dr. Michael P. Zimring, the medical director for the Center of Wilderness and Travel Medicine at the Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore
Constance Hale's profile of John Keola Lake -- a master chanter, hula teacher, and kahu, or priest of ancient Hawaiian spirituality and customs -- was honored with first prize in arts and entertainment writing by the Hawaii Publishers Association. Titled "Giving Voice," it appeared in Honolulu magazine
David Bouchier has published his latest book, Writer at Work, with ASJA Press (May 2005). It's a collection of 50 essays, funny and serious, about the writing life, based on the author's lifetime of experience in everything from literary fiction to radio and newspaper reporting, plus many years of teaching at the Iowa Summer Writing Workshops ... Carol Ekarius won the 2005 Colorado Author's League Award for adult nonfiction book in the service and informational category for her 2004 book How to Build Animal Housing, and her fourth book, Hobby Farm, was released in May
Carol Weston's Melanie in Manhattan (Knopf) was excerpted in The New York Times' "New York Bookshelf." Her advice book, Girltalk (HarperCollins), has been in print for exactly 20 years

The book offers a unique regimen for ageless skin and information about such treatments as Botox, lasers, and the non-surgical thread lift ... Cam Burns won his twenty-seventh national or regional writing award: this one from the Colorado Authors' League for Best Adult Essay in its annual writing competition. This was the second year in a row Cam won the prize ... Catherine Wald's The Resilient Writer: Tales of Rejection and Triumph from 23 Top Authors was released by Persea Books in June and features interviews with such writers as Bob Shacochis, William Zinsser, Mary Kay Blakely, Arthur Golden and Amy Tan ... Marisa D'Vari's new book, Creating Characters: Let Them Whisper Their Secrets (Michael Wiese Productions) was released in July
Joan Detz, author of How to Write and Give a Speech (St. Martin's Press, 3rd edition, 2002), presented "Speaking with Confidence and Clarity" at the annual conference of Columbia Women in Business (held for alumni of Columbia University)
Veda Boyd Jones has three new biographies for children from Wright Group/McGraw-Hill. Her biography of Langston Hughes will be out this summer from Carolrhoda Books and she recently signed a contract with Barbour Books for Nellie the Brave, a middle-grade historical novel on the Cherokee Trail of Tears.
