New member Joanne Cronrath Bamberger is writing a weekly op-ed column on a variety of topics for The Examiner, the newest newspaper in the Washington, D.C., market. The Examiner is affiliated with the San Francisco Examiner
Nancy Henderson Wurst's new book, Able!: How One Company's Disabled Workforce Became the Key to Extraordinary Success (BenBella Books) debuts this month. Able! chronicles the joys and challenges of managing a business with disabled employees, shares the stories of workers who refused to be stereotyped and offers advice for business owners
Martha Barnette's books, A Garden of Words and Ladyfingers & Nun's Tummies: A Lighthearted Look at How Foods Got Their Names, are now out in paperback (ASJA/iUniverse). Barnette, who co-hosts "A Way with Words" on San Diego's KPBS-FM, was interviewed recently for a BBC documentary on Charles Dickens
Carol Milano founded and co-chairs the first regional chapter of the Association of Health Care Journalists, which holds events and programs for members and colleagues in the New York metropolitan area
On February 26, John Hanc competed in the Last Marathon, a 26.2 mile race in Antarctica. Hanc, who finished 15th out of 178 finishers, has contracts to write about various aspects of the race and the two-week trip to Antarctica for the Boston Globe Sunday Magazine, Runner's World, Newsday and Smithsonian
Karen O'Connor's latest books were released in April. Help, Lord! I'm Having a Senior Moment Again (Regal Books) and Addicted to Shopping and Other Issues Women Have With Money (Harvest House). Karen will also receive the Paul A. Witty Award for her article, "Free At Last," published in Highlights for Children (April, 2004) at the annual International Reading Association's convention in San Antonio in May
Kim Kavin recently took home two awards and a certificate of merit in the annual Boating Writers International Writing Contest for a feature for Traveler Overseas and a feature for Offshore magazine
The May issue of Traverse Magazine (May, 2005), published in Traverse City, Michigan, and subscribed to by summer visitors from around the U.S., includes a feature article about Edith Gilbert, author of Easy Entertaining and The Complete Wedding Planner. She is quoted as being the Grande Dame in Northern Michigan on manners and etiquette and a stickler for proper restaurant service

Richard C. Levy, co-author of The Toy & Game Inventor's Handbook (Penguin-Putnam), has created three new games for ‘05 release: "The Velveteen Rabbit," based upon the book by Margery Williams; "Mental Floss," based upon the magazine; and "Can You Beat Ken?," in which players match wits with Jeopardy! champ Ken Jennings
