Kyoto Prize Journalism Fellowship
DESCRIPTION: Kyoto Prize Journalism Fellowship Esteemed journalists and writers have the exciting opportunity to apply for the Spring, 2012 Kyoto Prize Journalism Fellowship that is part of Point Loma Nazarene University's mission to provide modern education in the sciences and reflective education in philosophy, society, and the arts. The selected journalist will travel to San Diego, March 20-22, 2012, to attend the 27th annual Kyoto Prize ceremony, VIP presentations, laureate lectures and workshops. During their stay, the fellow will have opportunities to interview the latest Kyoto Prize laureates and interact with Point Loma Nazarene University's top journalism students..

WHO IS ELIGIBLE: The fellowship is available to working journalists or freelance writers based in the U.S. who hope to further their knowledge and depth of reporting in technology, science and the arts.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE: Eligible applicants are members of the science-attuned press: fulltime journalists who report on environmental, medical, health or other sciences.

Rosalynn Carter Fellowships for Mental Health Journalism
DESCRIPTION: The Carter Center Mental Health Program in Atlanta, GA, provides six one-year fellowships for U.S. journalists to report on a selected topic regarding mental health or mental illnesses. The Fellowships are designed to increase accurate reporting on mental health issues and decrease incorrect, stereotypical information. Each journalist awarded will receive a $10,000 stipend.

DATES of EVENT: Awards will be announced July 13, 2012
LOCATION of EVENT: Fellows will attend orientation and presentation meetings in September (2012) and at the beginning and end of the Fellowship year.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE: Applicants must have at least three years of professional journalism experience. Applicants must be citizens or residents of the United States or Romania. Fellows will not be required to leave their current employment.
ELIGIBLE SUBMISSIONS: na
PRIZE or END RESULT: The Carter Center's fellows receive intensive training from leading mental health and journalism experts and USD 10,000 stipend (or the equivalent for international fellows) to report on a mental health topic of their choice.
