Panel Discussion: The ASJA Guide to Freelance Writing

ASJA presents a panel of contributors to the new The ASJA Guide to Freelance Writing, an authoritative compendium of trade secrets about the business of freelance writing from successful professionals.

Lisa Collier Cool, president of ASJA, is a best-selling book author and winner of 10 journalism awards, whose credits include Glamour, Reader's Digest, Parents, Good Housekeeping, Ladies Home Journal. The author of How to Write Irresistible Query Letters, she will discuss her chapter on the secrets of successful magazine queries.

Sandra E. Lamb is the author of two books on writing, and is a regular contributor to Family Circle, Woman's Day, Parents, and others. The author of How to Write It: A Complete Guide to Everything You'll Ever Write, she will discuss her chapter on the art of networking for making and using contacts.

Sarah Wernick is an award-winning author who specializes in health, parenting and self-help collaborations including, most recently, Lung Cancer: Myths, Facts, Choices--And Hope. She will discuss her chapter on the pleasures and perils of collaborating.

Minda Zetlin is an author and speaker specializing in business and technology. The author of Telecommuting for Dummies, she will discuss the chapter on research, on and offline, co-authored with Steve Weinberg.

Editor Tim Harper will moderate the panel. Harper, a former Associated Press writer, is a contributor to many major publications including The Atlantic Monthly and Reader's Digest, and the author of eleven books. He is also an adjunct faculty member at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
