Fractured Atlas
Fractured Atlas is a New York-based organization whose mission is to provide services, resources and support for artists, broadly defined. They offer access to health insurance options for as little as $73.07 a month. What's the catch? These are bare-bones plans --not lavish, but certainly better than no health insurance at all. Though the organization is based in New York, health benefit plans are available in most states in the U.S. Membership in Fractured Atlas is $75 a month for an individual. To find out more, visit their website at www.fracturedatlas.org/ and click on Member Services.
FORTIS HEALTH

Several ASJA members have recommended Fortis Health as a good source of insurance for individuals and small businesses (2-50 employees). For information on their plans, you can call Fortis at 800-800-1212 or visit their
website.
WORKING TODAY
NEW! Affordable and portable health insurance is now available to New York members from Working Today
Working Today is now offering good health insurance to downstate New York members. Premiums can run as low as $255 a month for a single person. This is an HIP plan and it's service area covers the 5 boroughs of New York City as well as Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland and Orange counties. As long as you're willing to use HIP's New York network of providers, you can join their program, even as a resident of a neighboring state*. For details of the plan, click here for a PDF file. To find out more about Working Today, visit their website at http://workingtoday.com.
*Please note that, because of HIP's eligibility rules, ASJA can't be a Working Today Membership Partner. Current eligibility rules would exclude many ASJA members because they require that people demonstrate that they are currently working at least 20 hours a week and get paid hourly in one of HIP's eligible industries. Working Today is working with HIP to try to change the eligibility rules to an *income* requirement.
